2071 - Lyric

2071 is a Welsh language adaptation of a stage play written by Professor Chris Rapley and Duncan Macmillan that tackles the issues of air pollution, plastic waste, loss of species, deforestation, loss of bees and, of course, climate change.

Adapted by Welsh actor Wyn Bowen Harries he explains: “In 2071, Prof Chris Rapley tells us how, in his childhood atlas, the Antarctic was described as a ‘region unknown to man’, but now we have a wealth of information about our earth, and all its intricate and interconnected systems.”

Using songs, words, music and video Wyn will review his own life and career, exploring what type of future his grandchild might inherit in 2071. The production has been described as ‘breaking new ground in the Welsh language theatre’ and promises to be an enlightening and important experience for everyone aged from 7 to 107.
