The Main House

When you enter the Lyric you may think it is a small theatre however you will change your mind when you enter the main house because it is our largest auditorium at Theatrau Sir Gâr. It has three seating levels, the stalls, mezzanine and circle and can seat up to 593, but some of the seats in the circle are slightly restricted. As the Lyric is an old building and we could not change the fabric of the building but we could change some things. To make the auditorium slightly more flexible we made sure that the first 6 rows in the stalls removable, this allows us to programme cabaret events into the space which works brilliantly and has proved successful with shows such as the Bluestocking Lounge.

Studio Space

The studio in the Lyric is a new space that was introduced during the refurbishment in 2007. It is a very basic room but it is ideal for workshops and classes. Many of our hiring companies use this space to run through some of their show before going onto the main stage, and when they do move onto the stage they use the studio as another large dressing room. On occasions some hiring companies have used the space to hold their pre-performance reception where they invite guests up for a drink and a chat before they take to their seats.
